35E Bike Path
The 35E bike path is a part of the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation bike trail system and extends from Kellogg Boulevard near the Minnesota History Center to West 7th Street at Lexington Avenue. Within the Little Bohemia neighborhood, the path runs from the West Seventh Community Center at Saint Clair Avenue along the edge of the neighborhood passing by Superior Street Cottages elderly housing and Journeys Secondary School on its way to the Allina Hospital & Clinics at Grand Avenue.
The bike path is a great amenity for the Little Bohemia community and our neighborhood association is working with a variety of organizations to enhance and improve the trail in our area. Recently, as a part of the City’s street maintenance program, the section of the trail the runs along Harrison Avenue was refurbished with resurfacing and new lighting. Also, public art in the form of exercise stations was placed at the corner of Harrison and Garfield Street and the new Pleasant Park was dedicated in the fall of 2010. The LBNA has developed plans and is seeking funding for additional enhancements including a gateway entrance at Grand Avenue, additional exercise stations and retaining wall improvements.
Bike Path Enhancement Project
In 2015, The Minnesota Department of Transportation in partnership with the Little Bohemia Neighborhood Association, the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota Tree Care Advocates and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has launch a 3-year project to enhance the landscape surrounding the bike path that runs along 35E, from Grand Ave to St Clair Ave in the Little Bohemia Neighborhood. Click here to find out more. We are also seeking funds to resurphace the path, add additional lighting and other amenities through the City of Saint Paul's Capital Improvement Budget program.

Pleasant Park
Pleasant Park is a new urban green space located at the corner of Harrison Avenue and Garfield Street, situated along the 35E Bike Path. The park was dedicated in October 2010 with the installation of four new public art pieces that serve as fitness stations. The art was funded through the City of Saint Paul's RSVP street maintenance program.
In 2011, the LBNA adopted two large planters and sponsors a trash container as a part of the City's Come Clean program. In 2012, the LBNA received funding from Community Neighborhood Housing Services for landscape improvements to Pleasant Place, including a welcome garden. Also in 2012, the LBNA received a grant from Greening the Avenue for the design and installation of a new sign identifying the park.
In 2013, the LBNA again partnered with Neighborhood Community Housing services to create and install three new gabion-style benches. The LBNA continues to look for opportunities to bring additional enhancements to the park and seeks funding for benches, paths, a community message board, pavilion and other amenities.

The Little Bohemia neighborhood is home to a number of organizations that enhance the quality of life for residents of the area. They provide valuable services to residents and people in need, as well as a way for citizens to give back to the community through volunteering and other means of support. We work collaboratively with these organizations to help support their missions and to take advantage of opportunities to improve our community.

The Salvation Army provides critical services to people throughout Saint Paul, including day care and other youth services, food and nutrition programs, community recreation & education programs, worship services and senior services. The “Sal” has a chapel, gymnasium and meeting space, and is the location for our neighborhood polling place for local and national elections.
Journeys Secondary School is located in the old Jefferson High School building in the heart of the Little Bohemia neighborhood. The school has a basketball court, playground and ballfield. They are active in community outreach and the Little Bohemia Neighborhood Association has collaborated on a number of projects with the building's previous school, The Open World Learning Center, including neighborhood cleanup events as well as the development of this website. We look forward to a healthy and productive relationship with Journeys in the months to come.
